About Us
The Department of Applied English Language (DAEL) was formed in 1993 and was at the forefront of merging English language competence, business knowledge and computer software application. Innovative and flexible courses are provided for students who have a diverse educational background. The curricula enable students to qualify for international trade, English language competence, translation knowledge and EFL.
Campus-based students attend lectures in small groups to train the four skills of English as well as have access to a wide rang of academic facilities, such as experimental theater, language labs with DW system, and internet accessible computer labs.
Curriculum covers a wide
range of spectrum. Besides the basic required courses designed to enhance
students¡¦ English language proficiency, courses also offer diverse strands
including Economic-trade with English, English Language Teaching and English
Language Translation to encourage students to study further or enter a career.
Apart from the degree, the acquirement of the certificates of TOEFL, TOEIC, GEPT
and the application of computer software facilitate the professional preparation
or academic achievements.
Students graduating from these programs should have the knowledge, skills and expertise to become a tour guide in English, flight attendant, translator, and assistant teacher of English teaching, international trade and administrative assistant.

The department consists of different committees and panels as follows:
Faculty Evaluation Committee, Teaching and Curriculum Planning Committee, Facilities and Equipment Planning Committee, Student Affairs Planning Panel, Career Counseling Panel, Work Skills Training and Planning Panel, and Office of Department.
¡@Departmental Affairs Administration
The department head holds the department affairs meeting about twice each week. The main responsibilities of the department are:
-Raising outer scholarship.
-Actively caring for students.
-Promoting the Department Student Association.
-Openly processing the promotion of faculty and staff.
Fairly distributing administrative affairs among each member of the department.
